Deidra and Kristy, two mothers united by a common mission, launched Thankful 4 Seniors with the shared goal of positively impacting the lives of seniors. Their collaborative journey began as they walked the sidewalks in their community, where they identified the distinctive needs and challenges faced by seniors, friends, family members, and care givers in their community. Driven by a genuine desire to contribute, they conceived a service surpassing traditional caregiving.
Having witnessed firsthand the significance of companionship, personalized care, and support for seniors, they aspire to address a gap in the caregiving landscape. Their vision is to offer services specifically tailored to the unique joys and needs and or wants of each senior. They strongly advocate that every senior deserves to age with dignity, surrounded by care that is both unique and special.
Volunteering with a meal delivery service for seniors sparked a deep passion. Engaging with seniors brought immeasurable joy, highlighting the impact of companionship on their well-being.
Recognizing the widespread loneliness among seniors, especially those lacking support, intensified my commitment. With aging parents at a distance, I felt a personal connection, motivating me to be a caring presence. Witnessing their joy in activities and involving my children emphasized the importance of respecting the older generation.
This empathy evolved into a profound commitment, inspiring Thankful 4 Seniors. It reflects the belief that every senior deserves companionship rooted in respect and genuine joy, making life fulfilling and meaningful.
Caring for my dad during his last years was a journey filled with love, as he dealt with the ups and downs of dementia and diabetes. Throughout this experience, I noticed there’s a lack of non-medical support for seniors. While doctors and nurses took care of his health needs, there wasn’t much help for his everyday life in our home.
I was inspired to create Thankful 4 Seniors because of my dad’s love for life. He enjoyed music, singing, dancing, shopping, and watching his favorite TV shows, and I didn’t want him to lose that joy due to his health issues. I made sure he could still do the things he loved, even when I couldn’t be there all the time or needed a little break.
I believe many family members, friends, and caregivers hold the same desire to see their loved ones happy and thriving for as long as possible. Because of this I know my dad would be proud to know that Thankful 4 Seniors was created.
